Hailing from Naples, Florida, Sighmon is sticking to the theme of his origins with his latest album: REPTILE ๐ฆ. The rising artistโs career started in his 2017 college dorm room. Heโs followed the DIY pipeline and worked up his musical career through open mics, local showcases, and eventually splitting a studio space in Florida with his closest friends.
“The music that makes upย REPTILEย feels theย most myself Iโveย been able to express on a record… it also feels theย most Floridaย to me.” – Sighmon
This difficult but rewarding pathway has led Sighmon into the artist that he is today. His latest album REPTILE has this emotional, indie sound thatโs organically blended alongside the alt-pop and hip-hop genres. This can be clearly recognized on the first song of the album, โSoldierโ. This song is such a great opener that sets the foundation for the vibes of the rest of the project. Definitely a song you want to play on a long drive with your head out the window.
Sighmon displays little stylistic quirks throughout the album that add such variety to his music. Some credit for this is due to Charlie Hartwell & Jack Pavlina, the 2 producers for REPTILE, and DXCKLIN, the mastering engineer. The final product is a clean and cohesive track list.
As you move through the project, it starts with a indie-focused, emotional vibe. This then transitions into a more upbeat sound with โWhite Noiseโ, which combines rap vocals, crisp drums, and a subtle guitar. He keeps the energy going with โAm I Rightโ, with fellow Florida artist iamdeanooo, the only feature on the entire project.

While Sighmon is clearly the star of the show, we really gotta give it up for the next runner up: the drums. Each song has such amazing drum patterns that pair so well with the simplistic beats and almost monotone vocals. This is an overall solid and cohesive project. The album has a nostalgic sound that I predict will stand the test of time.
โWell a home is a home where you go when youโre missing. Youโre not alone on your own getting sick but a homes still a home when youโre gone and youโre trippingโ
-Homesick, track 5
Some artists get wrapped up in a sound they enjoy and it leads to every song on a project kind of sounding exactly the same. This isnโt the case with REPTILE. Sighmon has his original sound but clearly was not afraid to experiment and show his versatility.ย
